Sarcoidosis Registry "About Us"

About Us
Kristi Anderson- Director
I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 1988. Since then it has spread to
multiple organs. I joined the board of the Sarcoid Networking Association in
2002, the same year I started a support group in Albany, Oregon. A new group
was begun in Portland, Oregon, in 2005. My goal has always been to find ways
to pull people together to find out more about Sarcoidosis and what can be
done to stop this disease. As the idea of a registry grew, we found that there
were others who were as enthusiastic about the registry as we were. Under
the leadership of the Sarcoid Networking Association, we now have this
registry as a reality.
I have seven children and eighteen grandchildren. I have been a teacher of
children ages birth through college-age. I am also on the board of Landmark
Ministries International, a group of mission-minded people whom I am proud
to work with. I am currently a Special Services Coordinator for
UCAN/HeadStart in Roseburg, Oregon. I have held managerial positions in
many of the jobs I have worked in and I look forward to being involved in the
growth and understanding that we will see from this current endeavor.
This registry functions under the umbrella of Sarcoid Networking Association.
Sarcoid Networking Association:
Mission Statement:
Founded in 1992, the Sarcoid Networking Association brings together
support, education and resources to improve the lives of those affected by
Sarcoidosis.
Philosophy:
“THROUGH UNITY AND KNOWLEDGE, COMES TRUTH” We, the members of the
Sarcoid Networking Association unite to... create and foster an environment
of empathy, enlightenment, encouragement and empowerment in which we
can all come to a fuller expression of our own unique gifts and talents in spite
of having a long term illness; use our gifts and positive capabilities to
encourage each other to fully live each day in a compassionate and fruitful
atmosphere; serve as a network system of support and resources through
newsletter, telephone, correspondence and group meetings for all
individuals who demonstrate an interest in Sarcoidosis, opening the doors of
communication, education and research; disseminate information to the
general public to help them recognize and understand Sarcoidosis as a
serious medical problem; provide health officials and the medical community
with statistical information obtained from group participation, so they will be
able to recognize Sarcoidosis as a serious health concern, especially data
about people who are afflicted with Sarcoidosis, people who become
disabled with Sarcoidosis, and the young and old who die from Sarcoidosis.
We, the members of the Sarcoid Networking Association, look beyond the
sufferings and struggles in the life of Sarcoidians to finding a cure for this
disease, knowing that together we can all make a difference through
communication, commitment and education.
